Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As believers, we know that our relationship with money and possessions is a crucial part of our faith journey.

However, the concept of "prosperity gospel" has often led to a distorted view of financial stewardship.

Today, I want to share a more compelling and biblical approach to managing our finances.

Financial stewardship is not about accumulating wealth or pursuing material prosperity.

Rather, it is about recognizing that everything we have belongs to God and that we are called to be faithful managers of His resources.

This mindset shift can profoundly impact how we view and use our money.

Instead of chasing after the false promises of the prosperity gospel, true financial stewardship encourages us to:

  1. Prioritize generosity: We are called to be generous with our resources, supporting the work of the church, helping the poor, and investing in the Kingdom of God.

  2. Practice contentment: Rather than always wanting more, we can learn to be content with what God has provided, trusting in His perfect provision.

  3. Manage our resources wisely: This includes budgeting, saving, and making intentional decisions about how we spend our money.

  4. Seek financial wisdom: By studying God's Word and seeking counsel from mature believers, we can make decisions that align with biblical principles.

When we embrace this biblical approach to financial stewardship, we find true freedom and joy, not the empty promises of the prosperity gospel.

Our finances become a means to glorify God and further His work in the world.

I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can apply these principles to your own financial life.

Together, let's walk the path of faithful stewardship, trusting in God's perfect provision and using our resources to advance His Kingdom.

Blessings,

David Poh
