Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As I write this, tonight is our usual monthly fellowship on financial stewardship. As always, we will be providing dinner for the participants. I normally travel some distance to buy Nasi Lemak from a stall that is greatly favored by many in our community. Of course, it does not come cheaply either.

Today, one fellow brother kindly texted me and advised me to serve something more convenient and less costly for myself. I truly appreciate his care and concern. However, after much thought, I will still continue to travel to buy this favored meal for our participants.

The reason is simple. The Lord has called us to extend hospitality. More than that, I do not feel burdened by the effort of buying these dinners. Instead, I feel joy, joy in being able to provide something that our community genuinely enjoys. Thank God for His provision of both time and resources.

The joy of serving others far exceeds the inconvenience, the extra travelling time, and the money spent. We are called by the Lord to serve our fellow brothers and sisters with gladness.

I know many of us are busy with work, responsibilities, and family matters. Yet, amidst all these, it is important that we continue serving the Lord faithfully.

Our Lord taught that when we do something for our brothers and sisters, we are doing it unto Him. If we are effectively buying dinner for the Lord, then surely the Lord deserves a nice dinner too.

Let us not serve the Lord only with convenience in mind. Sometimes, being willing to take the longer route for the Lord delights His heart. Sacrifice offered with joy and love is precious before Him.

May the joy of serving the Lord always be with you.
