Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Last week, we delved into the intricacies of relationships with our spouses, and this week, we turn our attention to a vital aspect of our lives, the relationships we cultivate with our superiors and colleagues in the workplace.

Understanding Subordination Through a Biblical Lens

The Bible teaches us about subordination and respect for authority. It is clear that respecting your boss is not just a matter of workplace etiquette but a principle grounded in faith.

However, it’s essential to recognize that if your superior asks you to do something that contradicts biblical teachings, you have the moral obligation to obey the Lord first.

Facing Difficulties with Grace

But what happens when you're faced with a challenging boss or colleague? The truth is, God does not place individuals in our lives without purpose.

Your difficult interactions are not mere coincidences; they are opportunities designed for personal growth and development. Here’s how you can embrace these challenges:

- Learn Patience: Each difficult situation is a chance to practice patience. Responding calmly can transform not only your perspective but also influence those around you.

- Cultivate Empathy: Strive to understand where your colleagues are coming from. Their struggles may stem from pressures you’re unaware of.

- Lead by Example: Sometimes, your positive attitude can inspire change in others. By modeling good behavior and professionalism, you may encourage your peers to follow suit.

- Seek Guidance Through Prayer: When faced with challenging relationships at work, turn to prayer for wisdom and strength. Ask for guidance on how best to navigate these situations while staying true to your values.

Remember, every encounter is an opportunity for growth, not just for yourself but potentially for those around you as well.

By handling these challenges gracefully, you may find that you're not only improving your own character but also influencing others positively.

Ready to embrace the journey? Reflect on how each relationship can teach us valuable lessons about love, patience, and understanding.

Wishing you strength on this path,

David Poh
