Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As we continue our journey into biblical investing this week, let’s focus on timeless wisdom that safeguards not just our finances, but also our hearts.
Biblical Caution Against “Get Rich Quick” Schemes
In Proverbs 28:20 and Proverbs 20:21, the scriptures warn us clearly:
- “A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 28:20 NIV)
- “Getting rich quick may turn out to be a curse.” (Proverbs 20:21 CEV)
These verses remind us that while God provides for His children, He does not promise instant wealth without diligence or effort. In fact, offers that sound too good to be true often come with hidden dangers.
There Is No Free Lunch
We must remain vigilant and remember that genuine prosperity is built over time. If you encounter an opportunity promising windfall gains with minimal effort, pause and pray—such shortcuts are rarely from the Lord. The lure of fast money can lead down a road of disappointment or even loss.
Guard Your Heart Against Greed
Ask God daily for protection against greed and a discerning spirit when faced with tempting financial schemes. Greed opens doors to risky decisions and makes it harder to recognize deception.
Seek Wise Counsel
When in doubt about an investment or business opportunity:
Pray for clarity
Consult trusted advisors
Research thoroughly
Many fraudulent schemes, like Ponzi scams prey on good people’s hopes and faith. Don’t walk this journey alone; seek wisdom from those who share your values.
