Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, let’s revisit and reflect on a common myth about giving: “I will do it when I am ready.”

The truth is you may never feel “ready.” In fact, it is more accurate to say: you are always ready.

When exactly is “ready”? Is it when you have accumulated millions in surplus before you begin to give?

Jesus teaches us a different principle, that we give from what we have, not from what we lack. Giving is not about abundance; it is about the heart. The Lord does not measure generosity the way the world does. He does not dismiss the one who gives little, if it is given sincerely and sacrificially.

You may hear someone say, “I will donate $10 million to build a church when I have $100 million.” That is admirable. But there is something even more powerful about the person who gives $3,000 for missions when he only has $10,000.

One delays until he reaches $100 million to give 10%. Another acts immediately and gives 30% out of $10,000.

This is not about comparing who gives more, that would miss the point entirely. Giving is not a competition. Rather, it is about the posture of the heart and the willingness to act.

The encouragement here is simple: start giving as soon as possible, even if what you have seems small.

Your giving matters no matter the amount, because:

  1. Small, faithful contributions offered from the heart become part of God’s greater plan for His Kingdom.

  2. You grow in faith as you learn to trust the Lord for His provision.

  3. Your actions inspire others to step forward and give as well.

  4. You live out the truth that we are stewards, not owners faithfully managing and directing God’s resources to where He intends.

So don’t overthink it. Don’t delay it.

Let me borrow a familiar phrase: “Just do it.”

May the peace of the Lord be with you,

David Poh
