Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In our recent monthly fellowship, a brother in Christ who works in legacy planning shared something both encouraging and thought-provoking. In his practice today, he intentionally advises his clients to set aside a small percentage of their wealth for philanthropic purposes as part of their legacy planning.
This is a commendable step forward.
Yet, it also raises a deeper question for us as believers: are we truly giving as we ought to? The Bible speaks clearly about stewardship and generosity, and yet, how many faithfully give even a tenth of their income as instructed? For many, giving remains occasional rather than intentional.
Our brother is doing a meaningful work by encouraging generosity among his clients. It is my hope that such giving will not only be directed toward general philanthropy, but also toward advancing the Lord’s Kingdom, supporting ministries, missions, and the spreading of the Gospel.
Imagine the impact if more believers, in their respective professions, would advocate for giving as a natural and essential part of financial stewardship. Whether in finance, business, or advisory roles, each of us carries influence. When we use that influence to encourage generosity, we become channels of God’s provision to others.
We live in a world where wealth can accumulate and be preserved across generations, yet at the same time, many still suffer daily some even lacking access to clean drinking water. This contrast reminds us that wealth is not merely to be preserved, but to be purposed.
As stewards of what God has entrusted to us, may we play our part in promoting a culture of giving one that reflects God’s heart for compassion, justice, and generosity.
May our legacy not only be measured by what we leave behind, but by the lives we have touched and the Kingdom we have helped build.
Blessings to you and your family,
David Poh
