Dear Brothers and Sisters,

One of the businesses that I run is teaching investors how to invest in commercial and industrial real estate in Singapore. I have been doing this for the past 15 years.

People sometimes ask me, "How can you continue teaching the same subject year after year?"

The answer is simple: purpose.

My purpose has never been merely to help people accumulate wealth. Rather, it is to help people become faithful stewards of the resources that God has entrusted to them.

I firmly believe that investing is not just for the wealthy. Investing should not be an exclusive privilege reserved for the rich. It is also for the middle class and even the lower middle class. With proper education, discipline, patience and wise decision-making, many people can learn to grow their resources over time.

More importantly, I hope believers will see investing from a biblical perspective.

The Bible never condemns wealth itself. Instead, it teaches us to be faithful stewards. In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30), the servants who multiplied what was entrusted to them were commended by their master. The servant who buried his talent instead of putting it to work was rebuked. While this parable has spiritual applications beyond money, it also illustrates an important stewardship principle: God expects us to faithfully use and multiply what He entrusts to us.

Likewise, Proverbs 21:5 reminds us:

"The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty."

When the Lord blesses us with investment gains, His blessings are not given solely so that we can upgrade to a bigger house, drive a faster car, own more luxury watches, or enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle.

Part of those blessings belongs to His Kingdom purposes.

There are missionaries to support, churches to strengthen, ministries to sustain, children to educate, widows and orphans to care for, and countless people in need of practical help. We live in a broken world where many are suffering physically, emotionally and spiritually. God often chooses to meet those needs through the generosity of His people.

For those who have yet to know Christ, successful investing can also become a means of blessing society. Many charitable organisations, hospitals, educational institutions and social service agencies depend on generous individuals who choose to give back.

Investment, therefore, is not merely about increasing our net worth. It is about increasing our capacity to bless others.

As faithful stewards, we should continually seek wisdom to multiply the resources that God has entrusted to us. At the same time, we should hold our wealth with open hands, remembering that everything ultimately belongs to the Lord (Psalm 24:1).

Money is a wonderful servant but a terrible master. When we pursue wealth for its own sake, it easily becomes an idol. But when we pursue stewardship, wealth becomes a tool that advances God's purposes.

This is why I continue teaching investing after all these years. Every time someone learns to invest wisely, I hope they will also learn to give generously. Imagine the impact if thousands of believers intentionally set aside part of their investment gains to support the Lord's work. Countless lives could be transformed, not because of wealth itself, but because faithful stewards chose to use God's blessings for God's glory.

May the Lord grant each of us wisdom, discernment and humility as we invest. May He bless the work of our hands, not simply so that we may possess more, but so that we may give more, bless more, and glorify Him through everything He has entrusted to us.

"Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful." — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Blessings,

David Poh
